WHAT IS POST-EMERGENT HERBICIDE?

Post-emergent herbicide is a weed-controlling substance. The pre-emergent herbicide help the crops to prevent weed growth in the future. Whereas the post-emergent herbicide helps the plants from getting rid of the already grown weed on them. There are various types of post-emergent herbicides in the market helps in getting rid of the various kind of weeds from the environment.

The best and the most affordable post-emergent herbicides are available at Geeken Chemicals.

TYPES OF POST-EMERGENT HERBICIDES ARE:

1. SYSTEMIC & CONTACT POST-EMERGENT HERBICIDES:

Systematic post-emergent herbicide is designed to absorb into the plants. This makes sure that the whole weed is destroyed from the roots to the tip of the plant. They are the best herbicide for stopping perennial weed from returning.

Whereas, the Contact post-emergent herbicide helps in getting rid of the annual weed i.e. the weeds which affect once a year or rarely. They kill the weed on the contact, destroying the leaves and stem of the weed so that they don’t grow anymore.

2. SELECTIVE & NON-SELECTIVE POST–EMERGENT HERBICIDE:

The selective post-emergent herbicides are especially are the ones which without providing any damage to the other plants kill the weeds.

And the Non-selective post-emergent herbicide is the herbicide that are strong in nature. They just don’t attack the weeds they kill any plant which comes in contact to the herbicide. It may also harm the grass and other blooms gardeners if comes in contact.

PROCEDURE TO APPLY POST-EMERGENT HERBCIDES

There are various methods of applying to the post-emergent herbicides but it totally depends upon the gardener on what kind of herbicide they are using. The Post-emergent herbicides need to be applied in a controlled and systematic way.  For instance, while applying systemic herbicides one needs to saturate the ground around the base of the weed with the herbicides.

For contact herbicides, it comes important to cover all exposed leaves and stems with the substance. Always apply the herbicide on a rainless day where the herbicide gest at least 30 mins to dry up. Some herbicides need up to 8 hours of time to get into the plant and kill the weed. The best temperature for the herbicide to act is about 55-80 degrees Fahrenheit i.e. 12-26 degrees Celsius

Make sure to not use the herbicide on windy days because it gives them the chance to fly away with the wind and affect the wrong plants. Taking proper care when you are using the herbicide so that they don’t cause unwanted harm to anyone. Do not come in contact with the herbicide with bare skin because it may harm your skin. Keep the first aid kit ready for time of emergency.

The herbicides can become toxic when they come in contact with another plant and may affect them. So it is very important to apply the herbicides carefully and keep all the other plants away from them.
